Statewide Educators call on PA's 500 Districts to use American Rescue Plan Funds to Increase Racial Diversity Amongst Teachers
On the 20th of July at 11:00 am the ESSA Leadership Learning Community (ELLC), Cheyney University, and the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium (PEDC) hosted an educator diversity virtual Press Conference.
During this Press Conference, we focused on the ways districts across the Commonwealth can use American Rescue Plan (ARP) ESSER dollars toward teacher diversity and other outcomes for underrepresented students. We also focused on the ways that we can build equitable learning systems and communities as students returned to school in the fall.
At this Press Conference, we were joined by Deputy Secretary of Postsecondary and Higher Education, Dr. Tanya Garcia, and Sharif El-Mekki, CEO, of the Center for Black Educator Development. We also had representation from two of the largest school districts in the state and other distinguished speakers who participated in this important call to action.
We have attached some important resources and information that will provide you with more information about this important event. If you have any questions relating to the Press Conference, please reach out to Dr. Donna-Marie Cole-Malott at Colemalott.phd@gmail.com
